EXERCISE
Recent research has proved that exercise is an excellent treatment for the pain and disability of arthritis. A routine of certain exercises reduces pain and inflammation, increases range of motion and strength, and fights depression. AWISH provides such a program, which is physiotherapist-led.
Our classes consist of whole-body exercises, including light weights, aerobics and stretching, ending with a relaxation period. Each class is 1.5 hours long and everyone works at his or her own pace, with individual modifications depending on ability. This is an opportunity to have fun while exercising and to learn the proper techniques under the supervision of a professional physiotherapist. Classes usually run in 10 and 15 week sessions (depending on start dates), from early fall to late spring. Consult our Activities page for specific dates, locations and cost.
